A Timeless Classic Revived: 25th Anniversary Remaster Launching This June

After years of anticipation, the remastered version of a classic title celebrating its 25th anniversary is nearing completion, promising a refreshed experience for longtime fans and new players alike.

The updated edition is scheduled for release on both PC and various consoles this June. The journey to bring this remake to fruition has been long, with the project having been unveiled several years ago. Recently, during the MIX Spring Showcase, it was confirmed that the remastered version will finally arrive on home platforms.

The delay in finalizing this edition is largely due to the original game's intricate and outdated programming structure. The development team faced significant hurdles while trying to disentangle the layered and complicated code, which originally incorporated numerous legacy libraries alongside more recent contributions. This complex coding history required extensive use of debugging tools to gain a deep insight into how all components interconnect and operate as a whole.

A further complication arose from the sheer size and sophistication of the game engine. Initially designed in the late 1990s for PC systems equipped with a keyboard and mouse, this engine was utilized in only a handful of titles. Transitioning the game for use on consoles demanded considerable reworking of both the underlying code and user interface, extending the overall production timeline.

The announcement also brought with it the debut of a new trailer showcasing the release date, which is now set for June 26. The remastered version will be available on the following systems:
