X Unveils Ad-Free Premium+ Subscription with Enhanced Features and Pricing Structure
Aug-08-2024
In a recent announcement, the microblogging platform X (formerly known as Twitter) has decided to eliminate advertisements from its top-tier Premium+ subscription service. This change reflects a series of updates made since Elon Musk took control of the platform in late 2022, marking a shift from the previous single Twitter Blue offering to multiple subscription tiers designed to enhance user experience.
The X Premium+ plan is now completely devoid of ads. Initially launched in 2023, this subscription began with ads being removed solely from the 'For You' and 'Following' sections. This update brings the total number of subscription options on the platform to three, alongside the Basic and Premium plans.
Along with the absence of ads, the Premium+ subscription provides a range of additional advantages that accompany the lower-tier Premium plan. Key features include modifying posts, sharing longer video content, and utilizing encrypted direct messaging capabilities. Users also have the opportunity to earn revenue through content monetization, generating income based on the impressions gained from verified account ads in replies. Furthermore, a blue checkmark is assigned to the user’s profile, enhancing credibility and recognition.
Subscribers can offer monthly subscriptions to their most dedicated followers and gain access to various creator tools such as X Pro, Analytics, and Media Studio. Another useful feature available with Premium+ is Grok, the conversational AI chatbot. Users can also create text-rich articles, although this capability is limited to web usage only.
In terms of pricing in India, the Basic plan for X Premium begins at Rs. 243.75 monthly. The higher-tier Premium plan is offered at Rs. 650 per month, while the Premium+ plan, which includes the most extensive features, is priced at Rs. 1,300 monthly. Users also have the option to select annual plans to enjoy a slight reduction in their costs.
