Deadpool and Wolverine: The Dynamic Duo Rumored to Host the Oscars

The search for hosts for the Oscars is gaining momentum, and it seems a couple of iconic characters may take the stage. Could we see Deadpool and Wolverine as potential hosts?

Recent reports indicate that Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman are among the names being considered for the upcoming Oscars event. The exciting twist is that there might be an ensemble of rotating hosts, with each star or pair contributing to different segments of the show, aiming to provide a fresh approach. Although there are some uncertainties about their willingness to take part, their involvement would surely create buzz.

Other popular figures also rumored for hosting duties featuring Will Ferrell, Amy Poehler, and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. It's worth noting that Johnson is frequently suggested every year, although he has shyed away from committing for various reasons. Poehler, meanwhile, is well-known for her excellent hosting skills, particularly during her years co-hosting the Golden Globes alongside Tina Fey.

Hosting the Oscars has always been a challenging role, with the Academy exploring various styles over the years. The period from 2019 to 2021 featured no formal hosts, relying instead on different presenters. The 2022 event had Regina Hall, Amy Schumer, and Wanda Sykes at the helm, while the last two ceremonies have reverted to a more conventional format, with Jimmy Kimmel as the main host.

In light of declining viewership, the Academy is actively seeking ways to engage more audiences, having recorded their lowest numbers in 2021, with just 10.4 million viewers. This context makes Reynolds and Jackman's potential hosting a logical choice, especially following the success of their film, which grossed an impressive $1.3 billion globally. With the 97th Academy Awards scheduled to be broadcast on ABC, owned by Disney, there are reports suggesting that a campaign is underway to promote their performances for Oscar recognition.

No matter who ends up hosting, the Academy Awards are set for March 2. In the meantime, fans can look forward to a recap of winners from the 96th Oscars.
